Doing Business Differently
How do ethical, political or moral obligations combine with business? Can we do business ‘differently’?
Mick Wallace, builder, developer, and philanthropist will be joined by Sara Burke, journalist, for a discussion on the subject of engaging in socially responsible projects and actions in business. This is a public dialogue, and there will be opportunity for audience members to take part in the discussion. The evening will end with a wine reception, to which you are all invited to attend.
This event is jointly run by the Equality Studies Centre within UCD’s School of Social Justice, and the Quinn School of Business.
All are welcome!

I have wondered about this lecture. How does the ESC square any private profit taking with its ethos?
Well tipster, I can't speak for the ESC. However as somebody who has gone to the Public Lecture series prior to this upcoming event, there is a tendancy that one would be preaching to the converted. There is no problems with making a private profit, but it is how the profit is made, the systems of control, patriarchy, economics and those all impact on the ability of another person to make a profit in business. At least by engaging with Business interests, you can start that dialogue of encouraging a more equitable access to the market to all.

J.
