Letter to the PresidentImage by spitecho via FlickrFirstly this is my Personal Blog and as such this reflects my personal musings and opinions. They DO NOT reflect the views of my Employer nor anybody with whom I may be engaged in business with.

Secondly, with regards to Comments on the posts. People are free to express their opinions and vehemently disagree with my Point of View. Variety is the Spice of Life or so I have been reliably informed.

However there are a couple of limitations to this:

1. Any Comments which defame persons; are potentially libelous to me and this site; Advocating the commitment of a Crime of any kind; Racist or Homophobic Remarks; or Prejudicial arguments about any Current Court Cases will be removed Immediately.

2. Robust Argument and disagreement with my opinion is expected and will be responded to in a courteous and Responsible Manner. Personal Abuse and a lack of basic respect for both myself or other commentators, however, will not be tolerated. I may be an Equality of Condition kinda guy in my politics, but I will not allow this site to be used as a platform for someone else's Agenda.

Now that the nitty gritty has been dealt with let's get back to the business as to why we are all here. My Ramblings. :-)

Burma & its Uprising.

In Burma, as I post this, the government forces of the army & the police are engaged in activities which are in complete contradiction to everything which I and most of the world hold to be right, fair and just. The Army has begun to fire indiscriminately at the protesters who have lined the streets of the Capital, Rangoon, since the weekend, when Monks visited the Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Ki. The People of Burma have been fighting the injustices of an opressive State regime, for the last 20 years since the Military coup in that country. They now deserve our help to rectify this situation.

Is free and democratic government such a hard ask? nieve maybe, but not when you consider that all men will do everything in their power to hold onto all power possible for as long as possible. Maybe it is a big ask.

One thing I have found interesting though in this "popular uprising movement" is the use of Buddhists monks as a protective shield for the masses involved. I find it interesting from the point of view, that the Army/State agents could without any quibbles quell this uprising by taking out those whom begun this. BUT they are religious men and that has made a difference in this. You can kill all the people you want, but once you take on the power of a religion, whatever that religion maybe, then you enter into a completely different territory where the future stability of the State will be in jeopardy. The Govt is caught in a further delegitimating act of persecruting religion to which most people subscribe to & in this case it will be its own downfall.

A tribute to my Big Sister.

When Sally got stabbed earlier in the year & I saw the clip I cried coz the b*sts didnt say whether or not she was going to be ok again. It would have been a perfect exit for her then. However, seeings as how that as happened, the begs the question what exit will sally get & more importantly will she be coming back in later years if the character is not killed off.

However I am sorry to see her go, Sally was like my big sister that I never had. I think most of us grew up with her from the age of 7 until now. Her life was ours and most of it was pleasurable. [:-)]

After two decades playing Sally Fletcher on soap opera Home and Away, actress Kate Ritchie has announced she is quitting the show.

"I have been blessed with a job that I have loved for the past 20 years and I wouldn't take back one moment of my time on Home and Away, but I feel that it is time for change," she said in a statement.

"My decision to leave the show has not been made lightly and despite being sad to say goodbye I am excitedly looking forward to what will be the next chapter of my life."

Ritchie has been a permanent cast member of Home and Away since 1988. She was just 10 when the pilot went to air.

In 2006, Ritchie won the Silver Logie for Most Popular Actress.

This year she won the Gold Logie.

Ritchie has told Channel Seven's Sunrise program that she will continue working on Home and Away until the end of the year.

She is expected to film her final scenes in December.

Seven's director of programming and production, Tim Worner, says the network is excited for Ritchie.

"Seven is very proud of all that Kate has achieved in her time with us," he said.

"It's been an amazing ride and it's been a great joy to see her grow as a performer and a person over that time.

"We wish her as much success with the next part of her career - she's a great girl and she deserves it."

The Laws of Murphy

So why is it, when you go out the night before, that you are almost guaranteed that something will wake you up before 10am while you are sleeping off the hangover?

Went out with Jeff, Anna, Jenny & Steve last night; We did 5eur cocktails in the Dragon-which were fantastic as usual- and then we toyed with the idea of going to Glitz but the ladies won out & we instead went to Qbar on the Quays(ya can't miss it, the carslberg building is in the background). It was fun but more cocktails were consumed. Afterwards we went for an awful chinese(well mine was lovely but the rest of them were not impressed with it!)

so right now, i am very very tired and hungover but its that awful tired hungover which is ten times worse! so going into town now to do lunch and wearing a cap and sunglasses! :-D

The Angry Hedgehog Begins

So it is another okish-wild-windy-blustry-sunsplitting the rocks outside Autumn day in UCD, and I am in the library doing some readings for Class tomorrow. Just done some readings on Durkheim & as most people will know, I am not a major fan of Marx, however as most Universities in the world seem to think he is one of the most radical alternative thinker ever, I disagree-He just had a good day and a good PR publisher.

Anyway that may get me into trouble later on so i will leave it for now & develop it later. In the meantime, October 17th is

United Nations as the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty

you can find more information on this on www.oct17.org

later, im going back to read more for this class tomorrow afternoon-and before I go out tonight & dont have the time tomorrow! :-D
